Innovative approaches to energy topics.
effiziente.st Energy and Environmental Consulting e.U.
effiziente.st is a technical office (Austrian Technisches Büro / trade licence) based in Graz, focused on research and development in the energy field. We do have the know‑how and experience for energy consulting and energy audits, but our main focus is on creative work. Together with our clients we look for technically new approaches to specific questions – and provide support, where it fits, with funding eligibility and implementation.
For research institutions
Universities · Universities of Applied Sciences · non‑university research
Looking for a consortium partner for an energy project? We contribute the applied side and participate in projects of FFG, KLIEN, Horizon Europe and Interreg.
- Consortium partner: Industry / SME partner with a focus on energy telematics and intelligent control.
- Technology transfer: Moving research results toward prototypes and application tests.
- Tools & methods: Model‑predictive control, IoT, simulation, data pipelines.
- Dissemination & IP: Contribution to publications, IP matters, evaluation and exploitation.

For energy industry & industry
Utilities · Grid operators · innovation‑minded industry
You have an idea for an energy project and are considering turning it into a funding application? We work on the concept with you, examine possible funding programmes and support submission and reporting.
- Project development: Structuring the idea into work packages, milestones and budget.
- Programme matching: Experience with FFG, KLIEN, Horizon Europe and Interreg and their formal requirements.
- Proposal writing: Content and language aligned with programme guidelines.
- Consortium building: On request, introduction of research partners or end‑users from our network.
- Reporting: Reports and final accounting in line with programme logic.

For commerce & SMEs
Production · Trade · Services
You have already implemented or examined the standard measures and are wondering whether there are further possibilities? We look with you at whether certain newer concepts might be feasible at your site. This is explicitly not a classical energy consulting service or energy audit.
- Possible approaches: Building‑integrated PV (BIPV), sector coupling electricity/heat, intelligent load shifting, self‑consumption optimisation, participation in energy communities.
- Feasibility check: We examine whether an approach could be technically and economically viable at your specific site.
- Piloting: If useful, setting up a small pilot for data collection before larger investment.
- Funding eligibility: Examining whether the venture could be embedded in an ongoing research or funding programme.

For municipalities & regions
Municipalities · Climate regions · Public utilities
You are considering which approaches beyond the usual measures might suit your municipality – and whether a funding project could emerge from them? We look at that together with you.
- Innovative concepts: Positive Energy Districts, energy communities, sector coupling, BIPV in existing buildings, intelligent load management.
- Feasibility: Analysis of whether a concept could work in the local context (grids, properties, stakeholders).
- Funding applications: Translating the concept into application documents for the relevant national and EU programmes.
- Engagement: Involving citizens, businesses and administration in the development process.

Our live lab & selected projects
SoHO lab – an actually operated building we use as a test environment: PV and building‑integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) combined with a heat pump and smart home, intelligently controlled and interlinked. Here we test control algorithms and energy management approaches under real conditions.
- EPC4SES: Energy certificate data as input for model‑predictive control.
- FinSESCo: Digitalised energy consulting with crowdinvesting integration.
- SoWA: PV integration in roller shutters with smart control.
- I.sol.e²: Balcony and kitchen solar systems including simulation.
- OPTIX: Local energy resources for Positive Energy Districts.
Competencies: Algorithms, model‑predictive control, IoT, energy monitoring, software development, system analysis
Technologies: PHP, MySQL, Python, JavaScript, Mathcad, Consideo, sequence diagrams
